Our cellulose-fibre insulation material deters mice.

The Agricultural Development and Advisory Service (ADAS) has conducted a study to establish the repellence to mice of Warmcel cellulose-fibre insulation treated with the salts. The clear conclusion was that it was almost totally repellent. No mice would burrow into the insulation, verifying the treatment as very effective.

As it happens, cellulose insulation is also very popular in France for lofts as it is very good for deterring termites, which are a significant problem there.

Mice love other types of insulation.

We don't use fibreglass insulation - this is attractive to mice for nesting. Many of use have experienced mice coming in to loft spaces in autumn where fibreglass insulation is common! It is very easy for mice to burrow into fibreglass and create warm nests, which results in the insulation becoming hollowed out and polluted with urine and excrement.

Polystyrene and polyisocyanurate (PIR foam) are also appealing to mice who love to chew on it and nest in it.
